Sulfoxated Mothballs

Today I synthesized sulfoxated mothballs, or in other words I took the chemical in mothballs, naphthalene, and attached a sulfoxide to it. I keep getting this overwhelming whiff of mothballs as I work with the compound. It makes me wonder how any right-minded knitter could store her/his yarn and knitted items with such a stinky chemical. Thank goodness for cedar, lavender, rosemary and other nice-smelling insect-repellents.
